RS4 OEM Bumper Installed - Perfect Fit (Pics)

Thanks to JoshD and Brooks Motor Cars in Oakland, I now have an RS4 OEM Bumper that fits perfectly on my 2000 S4. Brooks received the bumper and sanded, cut, and remolded the sides to make it fit flush with the fenders. They also overlapped the bottom piece to eliminate all gaps.

As promised, I took some pics the past 2 weekends. The first set has the original 2000 S4 grill, the ones this weekend from Santa Cruz / San Francisco Highway 1 have the new RS4 grill.

Big thanks goes out to both JoshD and Brooks Motor Cars. Who says an RS4 OEM doesn't look perfect on an S4? ;)

Nice can you explain more about the sanded, cut and remodled

Cost for the body shop work?

Thanks

Re: Nice can you explain more about the sanded, cut and remodled

Well, the RS4 bumper is deeper than a stock S4 bumper. If you don't sand the ends down by the fenders, they go into the wheel wells about 1/8" - 1/4". Those were sanded down to eliminate the deepness and keeping the wheel well circular.

The sides were both remolded - meaning the shop heated them up, and then curved them inward to align with the stock fenders. This is the only way to get the edges to line up perfectly.

Once you remold the sides inward, or even just push them together, you're going to have buckle underneath where there is just a straight section of material. Several slits were made in this section from the back of the bumper with one side of the slit overlapping the other to elimiate the buckling. Once overlapped, they were reinforced with a small piece of metal.

As for cost, the reason I ordered the bumper was because I was involved in an accident (grr green trucks need to learn to watch their mirrors). The whole front end needed to be replaced, so it felt like the perfect time to "ugprade". The bumper kit from JoshD (which includes fog lights), was $1250.00. It took several days work to make this fit perfectly - in fact almost a week. Maybe even more. Depends on labor rates of your shop really.
