Default S4 "newb" has a few questions.

Can someone point me to a FAQ covering things like chipping/unchipping/clearing codes and voiding the warranty?

Dealer says they use Castrol GTX for my 2002 S4. Anyone here been able to get them to use Mobil 1 without charging extra?

How much drivetrain movement/rocking is normal? Motor mounts seem awfully soft for only 25K mi. Already broke down and ordered a DTS from AWE.

Road noise: Are Michelin Pilot Sport tires super noisy or what? Sounds a lot like a wheel bearing drone to me but dealer says it is the tires. Ugh. Can't wait to get a set of T1-Ss or S03s.

Who all is from the Seattle/Puget Sound area? I met Josh@Achtuning the other week but I'd also like to meet other S4 owners and compare notes.

Default here you go...

click the link for a bunch of questions you'll have.

Pay extra for Mobil 1 - run 0W-40 (general consensus although some run diff weights)

Motor mounts are really soft, DTS will help considerably

All HP tires are loud when the wear - my pilot sports and Yoko Sports were some of the worst at that but they ALL get loud. New tires will be much more quiet.

Not from Puget Sound - can't help you there.

http://www.s4biturbo.com/</a

I had some 1,500+ mile Pilot SPorts for awhile and they were very quiet. Must be related to wear.

Default If you don't like the noise/ride from your Pilot Sports, you will not like S-03's

I just made the switch, and S-03's ride a tad harsher than Pilot Sports, but are maybe a tad quieter in trade-off.

Default These Pilot Sports are pretty high mileage...

... although I don't know exact mileage, they are maybe 2/3 spent. Dealer noted some feathering, so they realigned the car and deemed the noise due to the abnormal wear pattern. Thing is, the tread wear doesn't look that bad and my wife's E36 M3 has the same tires (same size too) on the front and they have a eerily similar but not quite as loud drone.
