S4 6-speed - 2nd Gear Gone!!!!
Brand new car...Three weeks old and 1000 miles, and 2nd gear synchro is gone!!! After doing some investigating out there, it's seems I'm not the only one!!! Can only slide into second gear below 3000 rpms or double clutching.
Dealer contacted Audi Technical and they are hopefully overnighting a brand new transmission from Germany. I should hear from Audi of Wallingford today. Two day job to get the new box in. Can't wait to be able to run the car normal again. Anyone else having 2nd gear problems????????????????????

Re: S4 6-speed - 2nd Gear Gone!!!!
I am. In fact driving back from a young ladies house (don't worry, I'm a young man), I now no longer have the ability to put the car into 1st, or 2nd gear easily!

who took it?
:-)
Sorry, couldn't help myself. Speaking from someone who had my old A4 in the shop for 38 days for transmission woes, I think I am qualified enough to get myself in trouble in this thread.
BTW, my A4 was making a strange sound when I took off in 1st gear...it was gradually, month after month, getting louder and louder...they finally took a look at it and said my mainshaft was damaged. After a parts fiasco..(don't ask) and a dealership vacation fiasco (don't ask) I finally got my car back after 38 days. If you get a NEW transmission you should be better off than I...with my tranny they took it apart and replaced certain parts...and then actually damaged other parts when they were in there...(ie. 5th gear)
Good luck...<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/steveshsig1.gif" border="0">

Re: Thats awful. Is it a 2000 or 2001?
Its' a 2000. Started going at about 800 miles. I now have 1100 miles. Waiting word from the dealership upon the new transmission's arrival. Then it's a two day job!!
