S4 and autocross?
#2
I have (more)
I've run my S4 autocross, for mods, I would suggest a chip (2nd gear is your friend and most autox courses are all run in the 3-5.5krpm range...perfect for chip. Get better tires, the stock ones suck. rear sway bar to dial out the understeer.
Other than that, keep the ESP off, and just learn to hit the corners right, late apex where possible to get on the gas as early as possible, let the quattro do its thing and get the power to the pavement.

check racing forum. You can race it stock(plenty of power to get yourself into trouble), chipped..
suspension mods, whatever. There is a lot of body roll stock, but for a beginner that is okay. You will learn to rely more on your air pressure, timing of inputs with throttle and steering, etc. Just remember that you WILL go through tires quickly autoxing. Have fun.
Just for an example.. Me with my Tip S4 Avant and just a swaybar, was able to stay right behind a chipped A4 sedan with swaybar and slicks. With the hp we have, you will easily over drive an autox course.

Be Careful. Once you go with a chip, you are out of stock class...
and in to street mod. You won't be competitive in street mod without suspension and tires, at the very least.
I run alot of autox with mine, and all I have are kumho v700 dot approved race tires on my stock rims. I've been very competitive, with 3 straight 2nds out of about 12 in my class.

In the past in A Stock...it wasn't competitive...in G Stock next year...it will be
I guess the only thing you can change is the shocks...and the tires. If you want a good allround long lasting autox tire...go with a Kumho V700 Victoracer. Wait...you can change the exhaust also...(I think just the muffler..but it might be catback)
I competed in CSP and Street Modified. In CSP I got 3rd place in the SF Region in 99-00 year. I don't compete much this year..and have moved up to Street Modified...and changed into an S4 Avant.
