Insurance these days is not cheap, especially in the LA area. Anyone have suggestions for a good company with an affordable premium?

BTW, my record isn't too bad... one minor accident (my car rolled into another parked car) in 10/97 & one ticket (15 over) in 11/97.

each year a different carrier will be more competitive but with multi-car discount and homeowner's discount, Allstate was VERY good.

The accident and ticket should not show on your record considering over 3 years old...

It depends... some companies say 5 yrs, some say 3 yrs.

thats your driving record so there's no secret source to find out you got a ticket 4 years ago.

The accident is on your driving record only if a police report was taken and it was your fault. Otherwise it only exists in your current insurance companies files and you need to tell the new company about it but they won't penalize you too much.

The thing with staying with one company too long is that they won't automatically erase any ticket after 3 years AND they frequently don't depreciate your car so you continue to pay a policy based on MSRP despite your car being worth less and less.

i really pays to switch companies every couple of years.
