Default S4 pricing and performance

I fell in love with the S4 on my last trip to Europe. Immediatly when returning home, i placed a deposit on the S4 here in San Jose, CA. Price has never been discussed with my Audi dealer, so i was wondering what other people have been told about their cars. Also, anyone know how the S4 will compare to the M3, I've heard so many different figures, anyone actually driven both cars? any info would be appreciated.

been out of the loop for a while... i put my deposit down in July of 98, so I've been sitting here anxiously waiting. The car and driver is what I'm talking about... I've seen 0-60 specs for the S4 at 5.6, 5.9, even all the way up to 6.5!!! so i was curious about what the car is actually going to do. The C&D results for the M3 seem a little slow, so I'm curious if anyone has actually driven both. My good friend just bought a 99 M3, so I just wanna know how much I should start talking **** before i actually get my car. Anyway, I'm off to Carlsen Motors in Palo Alto to check out the S4... they actually have one on the floor; I'll let you all know what i think.

take care guys

Default On points, yes, performance no

Read the entire article and then also look at the performance figures. The M3 was still faster in 0-60, slalom, and road course - but thankfully not by much.

Might have been much closer if the S4 had not been on all season tires.

You are correct about Road Course. I have no idea where the data is for the slalom but the M3 beats the S4 in emergency lane change at 63.0 mph vs. 62.2 and roadholding skidpad at .84g vs. .83 I figure wider tires will help and maybe 18in rims, but 0-60, 0-100, 0-130, and quarter mile times the S4 beats the M3.

taken from C/D test
0-60 0-100 0-130 1/4 mile
M3 6.0 16.0 33.2 14.6 @ 95mph
S4 5.6 15.0 29.9 14.2 @ 98mph

Dave

When it comes down to it the cars perform so similarily that it will be the driver that makes the difference. If you can out drive your buddy start talking the smack! If not, better button that lip?! Then again you can always wait until its raining!
