S4 rear diff?
Does anyone know if the rear dif in the S4 tip is the same as the S4 6spd? Im not talking about the dif in the trans but the one in the REAR of the car. Visually they appear the same, but maybe the axle inputs or output shaft maybe different. Mine has recently taken a crap I guess I killed it and it needs to be changed out. Dealer/Audi told me the 02 rear diffs have better parts and the 01s were prone to failure.

You would need to change the ring and pinion and .....
This is not a simple bolt in application. Proper gear set up is a serious task. Took me longer to learn to set up gears right than it did to learn how to rebuild a motor or trans.
Set them up too tight, too loose or have the backlash just a .001 off and the gears will not last long.
In this application it would be MUCH easier to just swap the whole unit. That and I am not sure where you would buy shims, crush sleeves etc for this diff.
