Default S4 versus Audi 4000 (???) quattro

Wow, this is the first race I lost to an Audi (an old one nonetheless!). I was cruising down Menaul here in Albuquerque when I hit Wyoming and noticed a Celica GTS in the left hand lane. I started revving the engine to see if the guy/girl wanted to play but no dice. I see an old Audi pull up behind me (four rings baby!) and it looks like the old 4000 quattro with a single turbo. I decide to show him how I'll spank the new Celica GTS a new one and surprisingly he keeps up with me the entire time! I'm thinking, WTF? He's got mods on his car. So we both hit the next few red lights and he's keeps getting me by two car lengths each time! He has turbo lag, but once it spools the sandpaper noise is almost twice as loud as mine! I finally shifted perfectly in our last race and he only won by one car length. I flag him down to pull over and his car is tricked out! He has the old UrS4 turbo instead of his stock turbo, chip, exhaust, porsche calipers, upgraded rotors, suspension work, you name it (no boost gauge though). I should have mentioned Audiworld. He recommended the APR chip along with an exhaust kit (he knew about the ability to control the chipping through the cruise control lever) and handed me a card to the place in town where he got his car tuned (I'll be visiting there after the warranty runs out...). If you live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, beware the old Audi Quattro with a "D" sticker on the back of the car!

Default Not sure what kind of Audi!

The rear of the car was entirely debadged and he only left the four rings in front. It was a cream colored four door sedan with a five speed manual.

Default my neighbor did something similar to one of his 4000s

It was a mid-80s 4000 quattro, and he dropped in a 20Valve (I guess UrS4) engine.
I'm not sure about the details, or any other upgrades, but I do know that it became his racing car, and he used it at WIllows a fair amount. 'Til one of the his friends rolled it
there.

BTW, ppith, my car didn't make the last boat, and won't be getting on one until the 22nd. Now I'll have to wait until 7/31 at least... (w/ the promise of expediting the car to the dealer) :_ ( But at least my expectations are set correctly now!

Default It's not uncommon to come across an old 4KQ with an engine swap

The 5000 turbo engine fits right in, making it a very fast (and light) car.

The 4000 did not come in a turbo. The 5000 did.

Bummer Erik, I'm glad you're in the know of when your car will arrive though. See yas.
