S4 Winter Rims/Tires
Hi All! I'm new to the forum and all of your postings are very informative. I'm getting my S4 next week. I'm going to use dedicated rims/winter tires for my S4 and would like to know what anybody could advise. Someone suggested I should but some cheap stainless rims with good winter tires. How small should I go with the tires.....the car comes with 17" and I'd like to go smaller for better performance in the snow, but I'm not sure what size rims/tires I should go down to??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Re: S4 Winter Rims/Tires
There have been a number of earlier posts on this topic. The issue with the S4 is the HUGE brakes in the front. You'll have a tough time finding a smaller wheel with enough offset to accommodate those calipers. However, TireRack.com claims to have a steel wheel/snow tire set up which fits the S4 for around $600.
Caveats posted earlier: use the same size rims and tires on all 4 corners to avoid screwing up the quattro system. No chains. Quintuple check the fit over the brakes (there is about 3 credit cards of width between the front caliper and the spokes on the Avus rims. No kidding.
