is S4 worth 40k?
I was just wondering if you guys can give me any reasons why and S4 is worth 40K. i myself like the S4 but whoever i asked said that its not worth it, they would prefer a GS400 or M3 over it. So can u guys gimme some reasons y the S4 is worth 40K, so i can go stick it up their a**. Also i was just wondering how is the ride quality in an S4? Is is as comfortable as a GS400? Never driven one, but im thinkin bout one. Any help will be appreciated.

Of course it is.
As far as your friend's comparisons:
* the GS400 costs about $50,000.
* you can't get a manual transmission in a GS400.
* you can't buy an M3 new right now.
* when the E46 M3s arrive, you will likely pay about $50,000 for one.
Is the S4 worth $40,000? It's a <b>bargain</b>.<p>--

When you test drive it, get on it. Put it in 4th gear at 20mph and press the pedal.
You'll be amazed, this thing just flat out has torque anywhere, and features out the yang. Some people really are puzzled at how audi can sell a car this nice so cheap. I know 40g's is a chunk of change but reading on the internet about the car will not do you justice. Whoever said that about the S4 either has
A: probably lost to one in a race, B: has a BMW and is pissed to the fact that people can get such cheap performance out of these cars, C: thinks it's just an A4 or doesn't know what it is.

well if ya end up in the GS400, you'll be staring at S4 tail-lights =)
If ya get the M, then it'll be a race indeed. However, IMO the S is more comfortable than the M (current gen anyway)<p>-Cheng Kwan

My Boss has a GS400 - I drove it several times
But my smile was never bigger than driving the S4. Given the choice I'd take the GS400, sell it and buy the S4. (Drove the GS400 a lot)
Also tested the M3. Very nice, but I kind of have a hard time with 2 wheel drive cars. Not really tempted. I'm happy paying $44K out the door next month for my 2001 S4.

What's "worth"? M3s are impractical and cost much more. GS400 I cant say, but certainly they are behind in performance.
The ride is simply beautiful for a performance car. Fantastic buiuld quality.
Who gives a %*&%* what they think, why must people always have a "defence". Why are brunettes "better" than blondes? Who knows.
