Default Saw article in C&D about new Lexus LS430. Car has special water-repellent glass.

Does anyone know if this glass is available from an aftermarket supplier? Beats putting on Rain-X.

Don't know, but the S4 has rain gutters... knew there was a reason I liked this car.

Default I've heard of hydrophobic polymer coatings that are put on glass...

...however they are not really scratch resistant, and will eventually wear out.

Default Depends on what your defnition of "repelent" is...

If it just holds water out of the car, yeah I guess it's repelent. If Lexus puts some sort of rain-x, wax, whatever chemecial on the glass at the factory...whooptey frickin doo. Lets see this special glass? Is it used in boats? It must be...

Default Goes with the driver...

...Most Lexi drivers are water (and just about every other kind of) repellent. Poseurs. Lexi are great values, but the vast majority (c'mon, let's generalize here, after all, this is the home of irresponsible threads) of Lexicators spend more time on the rearview of themselves than is prudent. Can you say self-absorbed slime? Shur you can. I thought you could.

Bad experience with a Lexicon, eh? I used to feel the same way about Bimmer drivers.

Default Nah, just no time for poseurs...

Lexicators are right up there, along with the poor slobs commuting in their Subdivisions, thinking they are the cat's ***, little realizing how right they are. At least Subdivisions have a use, when properly employed. Poseur rides are deserving of nothing more than scorn, maybe even pity. Nah, ignorance can be cured, but that kind of stupidity is forever.
