Snub Mount, shift rod, and launching Issues.
Having been to the drag strip, My car comes out of 1st gear when i release the clutch at 3500 rpms.
I can launch the car fine on the street, but I believe the extra sticky track is causing something in my car to make 1st gear pop out.
Before I replaced the engine and clutch, my car would hook up fine at the drag strip and stay in 1st on the launch.
I posted a similar thread a while back ago.
I noticed my shifter rod system (above drivers side axle and tranny) had some play in it. So i got a mechanic to replace the bushing shaft and relay rod (thats what he calls it) however I have still noticed play in the rod and can shift gears with the rod and under the car. (idk if thats normal?)
I also replaced my tranny mounts (after new engine) to rs4 ones. With my friend stripping on the small bolts that center the mount. (its still in pretty tight but not 20 ft lbs)
I also researched, and found that the snub mount could do this. I already upgraded mine before the new engine and it was fine. However I have now noticed that the mount is resting on the bottom of the radiator suppot and the top had a gap. (pics)
I tried to center the mount by letting it idle and it didnt do anything.
So my question is what could be causing this 1st gear pop out only on the drag strip. Thanks its really embarrassing running 17's with 5.5 60 foot in a 12 second car.
TIA

go under your car, look at both of the engine bracket mount.
the piece that is connect between the engine body and top bolt motor mount, inspect it very careful since it is hard to see, but most likely you are brake that piece on the driver side. if not you can readjust your front engine mount bracket by lower it down.
as for your shifter, when you put in gear, is it move left and right or up and down ? if it left and right then the bushing is bad, you will need a new linkage. but the bushing in the last picture you show can be rebuilt with a rebuild kits from dealer which cost about $15 without have to get a new linkage
