I saw that too. For $100 more I'd rather have new ones that weren't painted

I see no reason why black paint would help with heat dissipation.

So what does "disspersant coating" do for you? Can it reduce air-metal thermal resistance?

Default here's what the coating distributor says......

-Rapidly disperses heat away from a coated component
-More evenly distributes heat over a coated surface
-Aids in cooling heat sensitive parts
-Excellent for intake manifolds, brake components, oil pans etc...
-Very good chemical and corrosion resistance
-Black in color

Default Well, according to these folks it is for CPU's

Does that mean a black IC gets rid of heat better...I don't know.

I do paint all my air cooled VW cases black as they tend to run cooler. Just my .02 of course.

http://www.globalwinusa.com/faqs/heatsink/color.html</a

Default Black will help the ICs radiate heat better, but will insulate them from convectively

sheding heat to the air. IMHO of course.

Default :-) Let me answer. They are lightly painted black with a high temp flat black paint.

I work for a motor manufacturer. Some of our motors can reach 100c. We have done extensive research that a black motor is better for removing heat than bare metal or any other color. This also goes for the mounting surface as well. Just think of a black car in the sun compared to a silver one.

If you don't like the paint it can be removed with laquer thinner.

:-)
