The car has had that "just not right" feeling, and after logging some 3rd gear WOT runs with my VAG-COM (at the urging of DocSlow and others), I can see that it is definitely my MAF sensor. Block 003 never even reached 200 (should be over 250 IIRC). I unplugged it, and took a ride around the block... OMG, it was like a whole new car.
So, here is my concern. I have an aftermarket warranty, and so far, they have been great. Only thing is that I've already had 2 other claims in the course of the last 7 days, totalling over $1300 in repairs (one claim being both pre-cat O2 sensors). So far, the company has been great... better than I ever would have imagined; no fighting, no complaining... just "please sign here, everything is covered". Both of the previous repairs were completely justified, and diagnosed by the dealership, but I'm worried that making a 3rd claim in one week will put up some sort of red flag or, atleast, make them stop being so friendly. Has anyone had any experience with a situation like this? My main concern with the warranty co. has always been to have them there when my turbos go... I'd hate to tick them off with petty small repairs before that day comes.
What do you guys think. I obviously don't want to keep driving around with a dead MAF. Should I just pay for this one out of pocket, or should I just report it and have them pay?

How much is a new MAF? I had a similar experience with my new home owners insurance policy. (m)
Two weeks after we move in the water line breaks at the meter. The cause: the associations landscaping (a tree) worked its root into our junction box and crack the pipe. We were responsible for anything from the meter to the house (since it was a closed system), so the home owners insurance should have taken care of it.
Our deductible was $250, the repair was $320. It was not worth it to me to make a claim when I was only going to get back $70.
Still, a bad MAF is a bad MAF. It's not like you intentionally sand-bagged them.

Where is that price from? I was under the impression they were a few hundred dollars...
... at that price, you are right, I would definitely just do it myself and skip claiming it.
