Default So my Mintex pads squeek horribly.

I just changed my brake pads the other day and they won't stop sqeeling. Mostly just at low speed stops but it is riding my last nerve. Anyone have suggestions for better pads or some brake cleaner that might eliviate this problem?

Default bed them in.

80-5 mph stops x 10
60-5 mph stops x 10

let them cool.

Default bedding is good...

I normally do 50-5 x5 and 80-5 x8 or so. Make sure you drive around at highway speeds for 20mins or so after you do it.

I've never used the mintex (the above worked on Hawk HP+, Porterfield R4S, PBR Ceramic) so Pauls advice might be more accurate for that compound.

20 min. between each stop or after the whole process...couldn't you just park it and let it cool?

Default The Mintex red box pads I got from AWE never stopped squealing horribly...

I finally had to take them off after doing numerous bedding procedures with no effect on the noise. Not sure what the issue was. Ron at AWE said he never heard of anyone having problems with them. Kind of sucks blowing $120 on pads (front/rear) that can't be used near people that aren't wearing ear protection.

As long as you don't pull the parking brake....that's what I did with my Porterfield R4S pads

Default After the whole process. Must drive while cooling for a couple reasons:

Even airflow through the spinning rotors.

Even cooling because the pads aren't stationary on one part of the rotor.

Default Parking hot, newly bedded brakes is a crap-shoot IMO

If one pair of pads rests contacting the rotor, or even close enough to conduct heat from it...

Default Good advice, I had never done it before and never thought of that, I guess I got lucky - at least...

I did not yank the parking brake up!

I guess that makes me only a 1/2 idiot!

I'll drive around next time......It was pretty cool seeing smoke coming from my wheel wells - I probably would not have continued beating on them if it weren't for the guy I was with who had done it before and just kept saying, "Keep going!"
