Default So What does a BAD rear wheel bearing sound like???

I am trying to track down a noise in my car...thought for sure in rear diff, now not sure. I get a growly/whine at 40 to 60mph. Will not change as i turn car sharply left to right...but does go away if car unloads over a "rise" in the road. I though bearings would go silent as I turn to unload the bad side. Maybe Both making noise???

Default whiny/creaky/cracking in order of "BAD"ness

can always take the wheel off, pull the axle out of the bearing and spin it with your hand to find out...

Have you checked the condition of the rear brake pads? If not, I'd recomend you do so.

Default I've had two go bad and both times it sounded like

the hum from an electric generator, or an electric bar-heater. A metallic medium-low-pitched buzz, and not particularly loud. Mine weren't affected by cornering.
