They are still working on the engine. Some rich Arab from Dubia was funding the engine devolpment.
The original plan was that body plus a twin turbo V10. The current engine was not designed for forced induction and could not withstand the additional force. The engine idea was scrapped until this very wealthy Arab decided he would make sure it came to be. Claiming 1000Hp! The car was dubbed the Mirage GT.
