So wood people, a 1x4 is not really a 1x4 it's more like 3/4 x 3.5" is that normal?

So wood people, a 1x4 is not really a 1x4 it's more like 3/4 x 3.5" is that normal?

Default yeah, unless you get a rough cut unfinished piece

We have some older lumber in our house that is pretty smooth and full dimension. Good luck these days.

Default I don't get it... Why?they sell it as a 1x4 and it's not a 1x4

it's not like a saw takes 1/4-1/2" off a cut. Oofda
