Just buy one for $70
I got a DOT/Snell rated open-face motorcycle helmet for $70 at a motorcycle supply shop in Torrance. Can't remember the name or exact location, but it is a big place, you can probably find it in the yellow pages or on the internet.
I have used this helmet at Buttonwillow, Willow Springs Raceway (big road course), and Streets of Willow with no problems. I am taking it to Spring Mountain Raceway in Nevada this weekend.
