SP5000's in the rain -- ugh!
I put SP5000's on my car as a good all season performance tire to replace my balding RE040's. Driving to work in the rain today I pushed it in some tight corners that I take every day. It understeers like a FWD car now! Ugh! My stock turds (RE040's) were infinitely better! I'm sure the SP5000's are better in the snow so it will be worth the change.
I'll definitely be getting summer tire/wheels this spring so I can have the kind of wet traction I'm used to. (I guess that since S-03's are the same brand/type as the RE040's that they also have good wet traction...?)

I had Michelin Pilot Sport tires for 3 years, and they were awesome in wet & dry.
Just don't try driving in the snow with them.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/tires/michelin/mi_pilot_sport.jsp">http://www.tirerack.com/tires/michelin/mi_pilot_sport.jsp</a></li></ul>

SP5000 is in the middle of all conditions....
I know that feeling of understeer on my Civic because I got the same tires.. Not that well in wet but good in snow.
But for the S4 you'll better off with 2 sets as you're thinking...
BTW SP5000 comes stock on the new ML500s and they have OK traction on snow.
