Default Spacer Install Pix

As promised in <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/738119.phtml">yesterday's post</a>, after installing AlexE's V1, we set about installing the spacers on my car.

Let's start from the beginning: H&R 10mm Spacers
<img src="http://www.jungle.net/soaresnj/audipix/spacer_install/spacers.jpg">
Thanks to (as usual) <a href="mailto:zev@AvalonMotorsports.com">Zev@Avalon MotorSports</a>...$225 + s/h (incl longer bolts)

While we're talking about longer bolts, here's how they compare to the stockers:

Thanks to my trusty floorjack:

and a strong helper:
<img src="http://www.jungle.net/soaresnj/audipix/spacer_install/spacers_strongalex.jpg">

in no time at all, one side of the car was in the air.

Pull the wheel off, slip the spacer on, and you're ready to put the wheel back:

TIP: If you have two of those 'wheel positioning' rods (the threaded plastic rod found in your toolkit), use both...lining up the wheel, spacer, and hub, and tightening the new bolts is much easier this way!

But enough of this...you wanna see Before & After shots, right? Rest assured, I did my best to provide them

Driver's Side Rear wheel...
Before:

And After:
<img src="http://www.jungle.net/soaresnj/audipix/spacer_install/spacers_rearleftafter2.jpg">

Driver's Side Front wheel...
Before:
<img src="http://www.jungle.net/soaresnj/audipix/spacer_install/spacers_frontleftbefore.jpg">

And After:
<img src="http://www.jungle.net/soaresnj/audipix/spacer_install/spacers_frontleftafter2.jpg">

Psgr Side Rear Wheel (I forgot to take a 'Before' shot):

Of course, the car will look better once it's lowered, but this is definitely a visual improvement (IMO) over stock.

I thank you for your time...

Default Yup...even with the winter tires

I'm running 205/50s for the winter...once I get the summer tires back on (225/45), it'll be even more noticeable

Default Nice, but...

What does this do for the car aside from the visual improvement? Handling?

Will this increase the liklihood of rubbing after it is lowered? I'm going to be doing some suspension work on my car soon and I'm not really familiar with the benefits and drawbacks of much of the modifications. Looks nice, though!

Default I'll be perfectly honest...

I got them for the visual aspect only...in theory, you should experience a handling improvement, but two 10mm spacers results in a total width increase of less than 1 inch, so I doubt I'll notice anything.

As per CraigB, I should experience no rubbing with 10mm spacers and a lowered car...as long as I don't 'slam' it;-)

Default That's not a spacer....*This* is a spacer........

How many threads do you really need to hold a wheel on, anyway?

Ha, I just realized that tire is probably on the wrong way as well!
