Spent the day at Stasis while they put my coilovers on....review of the 4 hour drive home (long)
So I showed up around 9 am for the install (would have been there 45 minutes sooner if I didnt get lost). Even the NAV couldnt get me to this 1 lane, 2 way road with pot holes and people walking their dogs. Anyhow, I get there and the entrance has a small house, and down the path is a huge barn. Inside the barn are Paul's race cars, a few of his project cars.
I gotta say that the installation procedure that Stasis used was very detail oriented and precise. First a tech checked the corner balance, measured camber, toe-in and a bunch of other stuff that I have no idea is.
While those measurements were being done Paul took me for a ride in his own S4. For a stock S4 with only coilovers with 600/700 lbs f/r, that thing felt FAST. He took one corner so fast I think I literally blanked out for a split second. The turn is a steep downhill hairpin to the right (when I say hairpin I mean it should be called a U-turn). Most people in front of us slowed down to about 10-15 mph. Paul stays back to get some room, and he enters at a reasonable 25, then mashes the throttle and the next thing I know the rear end wiggles a little and he snaps the car straight again. He then threw me in the driver's seat and I got to feel what a car is supposed to feel like. His ride height is 26 in, but it corners like it's on rails. It's firm, but doesnt jar my back. And the steering definitely is more responsive.
So I think they start doing the measurements around 10 am, and I finally leave at around 6:45 pm. Now for $300 installation fee that they charged, I think I got the better of the deal.
So I grabbed a triple mocha and head from Los Gatos to Bakersfield. At first the ride was a little firmer than I remembered Paul's car to be. But then I have 225-40-18 S03s, while Pual's S4 still has the stock Potenza R040. The steering sure feels more secure and precise. Took about an hour to get adjusted to the extra firmness. But I think I can definitely live with it. I dont know if my girlfriend would approve of the ride. I had originally wanted to get 500/600, but Paul's test drive sold me on 600/700. I might have to go back to my original idea just to keep her quiet. Who knows.

I strongly considered getting their coilovers and having them do the install. 14 hour drive for me
but I think that would have been half the fun. The fixed height system I am getting installed tomorrow doesn't require the extra attention, so I didn't go down there.
Sounds like fun! Let us know what you think as you get some more drive time in this weekend.
