Default Stage I Brake Upgrade? APR or ECS Tuning

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had a Stage I brake upgrade from APR. I noticed that their website has "coming soon" for both Stage I and II but I have noticed several posts on this forum with mention of having Stage II.

Does a stage I upgrade make a significant difference in stopping distance? I was also looking at www.ecstuning.com and they have the following for a Stage I upgrade:

-Mintex red box brake pad set
-ECS Tuning slotted & cadmium coated rotors ($165 each) or ECS Tuning rally slotted & cadmium coated rotors ($185 each) Rear rotors are $149.95 a pair (slotted and coated).

Does anyone have this upgrade and, if so, how is it?

I am looking for a bit of improvement in stopping power so any input would be great. Thanks a lot.

Default I think the main benefit of the Stage 1 kit is the rotors are more durable than the stock ones. I

don't think you're going to get much of a reduced stopping distance, unless you brake hard many times in a row (compared to the stock system). To my knowledge (limited), none of the kits *greatly* reduce stopping distance. They perform better at higher temps though, and don't fade, when pushed. I've heard that getting SS lines increases the feel of the brakes, and is a good mod to get. Just my $.02.

Default I don't think you could ask for (nor are you likely to get) much better braking distance on this pig

For a 3600 lb. car (or whatever the hell it is) this thing stops QUICKLY. The OEM brakes are AWESOME in my opinion from a 60-0 or 120-0 or whatever-0 standpoint... once!

The brake upgrades that everyone does are to decrease fade and warpage when tracking or running the car hard. They work great once but stop hard a few times in a short period of time and they begin to suck... quickly.

I'm stage 2+ so my car is fast and also has a great stereo (the two things I love most about my car!) but the first thing I ALWAYS notice when I get into my car after driving another car is how well the brakes work in daily driving.

Have you driven other cars that seem to stop better? Why are you looking for "a bit of improvement in stopping power"??!?!!

Like the 500 lb. Gorilla says, "That's just my opinion, I could be wrong!"

Default I'd be interested to hear from people with upgraded rotors.

My stock rotors are more or less destroyed i think, and the fade is really killing me. I'm VERY hard on my brakes in daily driving. I'm happy with the stopping distances so im just looking for a better rotor that can take a lot more abuse than the stockers.

Default Stopping distance is more related to the tires since even the stock brakes can lock the wheels.

Brake upgrades will prevent fade after repeated stops.

Default I've long been a fan of SS line upgrades...

Every car I get eventually gets SS lines. Greatly improved pedal feel.
