STFA-no luck. Passport 8500 hardwire question.
Sounds like most installs for this were done by using the vacant fuse or tapping into the map light. Has anyone used the wire tap that was included with the smart cord direct wire to wire from the fusebox? If so, which wire did you tap into? Any problems?

Now I'll sound dumb...
Can I buy this at Radio Shack? Any special requirements for the connector, or just a standard spade connector? Will I have to modify the cord that came with direct wire kit, or will it plug directly into the spade connector?

Yes you can buy it at RadioShack, no special requirements. You'll have to crimp the spade connector
onto the power lead for the hardwire kit. I also used a ring connector on the ground wire.
