Default Strange noise from rear passenger wheel well... Any ideas on the source?

Yesterday after pulling into my garage and shutting off my car, i could hear a strange sound coming from somewhere nearby. It was a very soft, repeated "meeping" sound. At first i thought it was from somewhere in the house or outside, but i finally pin pointed the source of the sound. It was the rear passenger side wheel well. i thought that maybe it was little alarm system horn malfunctioning, so i tried unlocking and locking the car to see if the sound went away. It didn't and i also determined that the sources of the two sounds were not the same. Since the fuel door is right near where the sound was coming from, i opened it and removed the gas cap and then put it back on. it appeared to stop the sound, but after i started the car up again and then shut it off, the sound came back. I think it is the fuel pump.

I called Audi Service and the guy gave me bunch BS and tried to blow me off. he told me that was just the sound it makes. I said "I have had this car for a year and i've never heard the sound before today!!". I then told him it happened when the car was not running and then he was stumped. i set up an appointment for next week.

Anyone heard this before? Any ideas?

Well the fuel tank is pressurized. Did it sound like a leak?

Default It was a periodic, muffled, "meeping" sound.

I dont think it's a leak because i didn't see any fuel anywhere. i'm not sure. If i burst into a fireball while travelling down the highway, i'll know it was a fuel leak!

Could be a leak in the power-lock system.

Default It's a pressurized air system (AFAIK).....

...and perhaps the hose running to the gas-flap "pin" has a small leak.

Default You get a CE a light if it was an airleak from the tank.

It could be a slight depressurization. Honestly it's REALLY hard to say with out hearing it, but if it concerns you find a dealer willing to take a listen. Most likely if it was major you'd get a CE light...

There are no warning lights or anything.

Default Not necessarily. I cleared a central lock pressure DTC that had been in the ECU for over a year,

I never knew it happened until I happened to check the ECU.
