Strange noises...Any ideas
The past 2 mornings when I started the car, about 40* outside, after running about 5 seconds, a very strange noise starts coming from the vbelt area. Sounds like bad bearings or something like that, maybe in a belt tensioner, water pump, or power steering pump. Noise goes away after a minute or 2. Anyone else ever have this problem and if so what was it? I'm going to take it to the dealer to check it out, but will have to leave it overnight so it's cold for them to reproduce it. Car is a 2001 S4 10/00 build date.

It's the power steering pump.
This morning (Wed) I started the car, and no noise. Turned the steering wheel back and forth a little and bingo, theres the noise. Time to check the fluid level and look for leaks.
