I have a tip, and am also considering getting the tip race chip. Of those who actually own this chip, how satisfied are you with it, and how long have you had it? Do you notice any differences in your car such as engine temperature and gas mileage when not driving overly aggressive.
On their web site, it says they can return the original chip with my ECU. Does this mean I can switch back and forth with the same ECU? Is it easy to pop these chips in and out once they are not soldered? Why does everyone usually buy a separate ECU, is GIAC the only one that doesn't solder down their chip?
Thansk for any feedback.

If they decided to open the ECU, they'll see the socket.
and know it was or can be chipped. Trust me $700 is better now then shelling out 5K for new turbos, when they deny your warrenty claim. At least that's my opinion, if I was chipped of course.

They could speculate.....
When you switch ECU's the new one will have a power loss error code, it will clear with a VAG Tool or 60 Run cycles... Also make sure you put every screw back on the case. I've heard some dealers looking at the screw heads for wear or adding paint to mark the posisition. I think the that's a little extreme and proabably very rare.
again I think all this can do is lead to speculation and not proof. Oh yeah apparently AOA reads this board...
