Suggested Tire Size for BBS CH 18x8.5 Wheels?
Planning on a set of H&R Streets 1" to 1.5" drop w/ CH's this summer/spring...I dont want to roll my fenders and dont want to be too low in profile living in CO.
|
I've got 18x8.5 CH, and based on looks only, go with 235.
The 225/40's I have just don't quite fill the wheel width very well. If you go with a lowered suspension, you'll want to consider rubbing of course, but just based on looks (and I'm not lowered either) I'd go 235 minimum.

235/40/18

lowered suspension definitely 225 40/18 ... I know 3 people with 235's and they rub seriously.
One has CH's on MTM suspension, the other has Superleggara's on Coilovers and both rub and had to roll to clear.

235 on an 8.5" wide rim is like a 210 on a 7.5" wide rim...
The comparable 225mm/7.5" wide rim fitment on an 8.5" rim is a "250" (which doesn't exist). A 255 falls between a 235 and a 225 on a 7.5" rim (~230/7.5). (.77" over on each side for 255/8.5 versus .68" over on 225/7.5 and .88" over on 235/7.5)
I think a 245/35 or 255/35 would provide a better fit given these numbers. (using just the specs of course) |
dumb ?...
if they have coilovers and are rubbing, cant they just raise the suspension to accomodate the wider wheels? or does the offset play a bigger role here as well?
|
mmmm..... no.....
|
Agree, but it's not happening w/o rolling. My 225/40/18s on CHs rubbed pretty bad.
before rolling. (these are AVS sports btw, not sure how they compare to what you're looking at but S03s are probably the widest tire...
I didn't want to roll either, but it's not so bad... good luck. |
Yeah, but nobody wants to raise they're car, cuz it looks and handles so nice down low. :P
Not to mention you have to pay more hours in the shop and get another alignment.

i have 225/40-18 S-03s on my CHs (updated w/pic)
they fit the rim fine since they're wider relative to other manufacturer's tires of the same size.
(don't mind the wheel gap...this is an old pic) <img src="http://www.funkadelic.org/albums/bbs_ch/aak.jpg" border="1"> my fronts were set to 26" ground to fender and had no rubbing issues (even @ the track). just dropped the fronts another 1/4" but haven't had enough aggressive driving yet to determine if i need to roll. |
