Default Suspension questions (lots of them)

What suspension combo (springs/shocks) will give me the biggest drop? I've seen some pics of the intrax/koni and the MTM full setup and the wheelgap is still too much for me (especially in front).

I know, I know, get coilovers.. but I don't ever want to adjust them and they are a bit pricey anyway. Anyone have the H&R race or sport springs? They advertise the best drop I believe, but I haven't seen any pictures. Also what shocks would work best with these springs? Or can I use the stock ones?

You're asking the wrong question--how low can I slam my car? The S4 is not a low-rider and you can actually screw up the suspension balance by slamming the car too much. Better to get a harmonious suspension setup that gives you a noticeable performance improvement. H&R coilovers, if you're lucky enough to get a set that is properly installed, will give you much better handling at a price of considerably more ride harshness. The Intrax setup could be even firmer. If you like the stock squishy ride and whale-like body wallowing, get some Eibach sport springs to close the wheel gap and forget it.

I use custom-valved H&R Cup coilovers and, after much heartburn with H&R, a rear shock swap, etc., am happy.

Default MTM has the lowest drop of any setup I've seen on an S4.

You could probably get the car lower with coilovers, but I would scrape on speedbumps with the MTMs, and found a number of driveways I couldn't drive straight up with them.

Default I measured 1.6 front and 1.25" drop with my Neuspeed "Race" springs.

$120 you pay the shipping.

This pic is before they settled another 1/4".

You can get away with the stock shocks but I would recommend properly valved Konis or Bilsteins.

Default Don't do springs only.........more.......

No matter what is claimed about a certain spring supposedly working with the stock shocks, the result will still be less than optimal with way too much harshness and bounce in your ride, and ultimate premature wear of the shock absorbers. i went from stock to MTM springs to full MTM set-up. Ride and handling are superb. Fender height is 25" front and rear, which looks very nicely lowered without that slammed rice-boy look. No complaints whatsoever about this set-up.

Default MTM does not have the lowest drop at all

H&R has the lowest drop (by probably a 1/4-1/8 of an inch). Next the UUC, then the HIGHEST ones are the MTM springs which are at least 1/4" higher than the UUC and close to a 1/2" higher than the H&R.

I have not seen the intrax setup yet so I can't compare those.

Default UUC Springs here....

I am very happy with the UUC springs they are much stiffer than the MTM springs. Ride quality is pretty good during normal driving and I rarely have any problems with the suspension being "bouncy" (at least no more than the stock suspension). On the track, and during "spirited" driving, they simple kick butt. I love the way they feel. I originaly got them to hold me over until I get coilovers, but I think that I will just replace the shocks instead. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the UUC springs a 8.5 (the few points taken off due to some slight creaking noise caused by the dead coils rubbing together. This can be fixed easily using silicon tubing).

Default H&R Sports, stock shocks on 3 of my 4 Audi's. The one w/ 65k needs shocks. Other 2 are fine.

Maybe I had weird springs. My car with MTMs had less than a finger widths gap, front and rear.
