Taking '00 Tiptronic to drag strip - Need shifting advice
While racing, should I put the car in Tiptronic mode, or just leave it in drive? If I put it in Tip mode, should I redline every gear and let the car shift for me, or should I manually shift at certain RPM's? The only mods that I have are a Borla cat-back exhaust and I've recoded the tranny to 00032 with the VAG so that I can redline 1st gear while in Tip mode. I'm going to the strip this weekend see what it can do before I eventually chip it, and also I'm racing my friend who has a 94 3000GT VR4, which will undoubtedly destroy me. TIA.

Leave it in tip mode but dont shift yourself let the car do it...clamping pressure is higher in.....
tip mode and if you run it to redline the car will shift automatically. You will only be able to get to about 2500 rpms or so before the car stats inching forward and starts to overpower brakes with stock setup

Do as people below have said...
try torque launching in Tipmode in 1st, then kick it into Drive for the rest of the shifting, starting with 2nd gear. Also, if you get enough passes, try tip mode, I have gotten some pretty quick times with shifting earlier(around 5400ish) instead of redlining every gear, I feel as though power drops off around 5500.
