Taking Delivery on 2001.5 Santorin/Alcantara Saturday - History Opinions Wanted?
Picking up my Audi CPO car tommorrow. Finally got vehicle warranty history report faxed to me today and deciphered the codes by calling Audi of America Customer Service which were very helpful.
Anyway, hows this list look for a 34,000 mile S4 in terms of warranty issues compared to you all?
Does this look pretty normal for new car issues which look pretty minimal compared to Turbo's, Tranny's, Clutches, etc... i've read about in the forum archives?
Normal Maintenance (No problem IMO):
1. 5K/10K/20K/30K/40K Service
2. Brake Fluid
3. Battery
4. Rear Brake Discs (Hope they did pads too)
5. Front Brake Pads
Warranty Repairs:
1. Air Cleaner Housing
2. Seat Rail Guide
3. Subwoofers (2 of them over time)
4. Coolant Hoses
5. Manifold Change Over Valve (What is this? $?)
6. Camshaft Adjuster (What is this? $?)
7. Central Wiring Harness - same time as 2nd Sub
8. Headlight Washer Pump
9. Front 02 Sensor
10. Air Bag Triggering Control Unit (Car not in accident according to Car Fax)

Camshaft Adjuster is most likely a seal that is prone to leak on the 2.7L engine. You'll love the car. Best of luck.

My two cents...
I love my s4. I was looking to get an e36 m3 before I got the S, and I am so happy I got the s4. It is a practical everyday road car, and also a rocket ship. Every now and again I drive my brothers m3 when I need parts in my car and I can't drive it... It makes me miss my car so much. 00 Santorin 6spd is what I have and I could only be more happy if I had the alcantara. Good choice getting the S. Have fun and drive safely!

Not sure what #5, #6 are under warrant repairs but looks pretty good. All are normal.
FWIW, I've had:
1. Headlight washer pump.
2. Rear deck speakers.
3. Driver seat rail.
4. New battery.
5. Steerer tube replaced due to squeaky steering wheeel.
6. Instrument cluster LEDs.
7. New turbos at 41k miles (chipped for most).
8. New clutch at 50k miles (my abuse).
9. New motor mounts (my abuse).
10. New driver seat heater element.
11. New driver seat lumbar support motor.
That's all I can think of right now. I think it covers it. I'm at 52k miles. My synchros are getting notchy/grindy so I'm sure they'll go at some point.
