Default Talked to Dealer. May be able to swap into aonther car, but all are gone that I like....

So I may just let them swap out the turbo's if it turns out to be that and not a leak... THey said it's a week downtime. This sound right?

btw, they also said most STOCK turbo failures tend to happen within the first month.

Lastly, the 2nd question was "Are you chipped". My dealer has been good to me, but the word is that the dealer, and AoA is stepping up the campaign regarding chips and the 2.7t motor. THey are more lenient with the 1.8 due to low to nil occurances of turbo failure.

Default I'd try to get into a new car if I were you...

See if they can pull one from another dealership somewhere else in the country.

First of all, let's say that they swap the turbos out and the sound goes away. Then you have yourself a brand new car that has already had substantial engine work. This could effect the resale value. And, do you really trust that after the whole motor is pulled and then replaced, that everything will be good as new? I'd be skeptical.

Second, let's say they swap the turbos out and the sound is still there. Then what?

Press them for a new car. They should be able to search nationwide inventory with their computers.

Default They are clueless....

You REALLY need to contact AoA on this Ed, seriously! Don't let the dealer handle this if it's really an issue of turbos.

You're car is brand frick'n new and I wouldn't have any part of them replacing my turbos. I would demand a new car or a refund.

My $.02 again....

Default Uhm, my dealer was told in a Mpls technical meeting last week that the 1.8T is failing

a lot more than the 2.7T

Some corporate suites told him this. Of course, they could be sandbaggin it.

Default Well, I'm not 100% sure it's the turbos, but your point is well taken.

Got any pointers on approaching AoA?

That doesn't jive with my knowledge of the A4, and based on reading many posts on the A4 Forum.

I would agree. The 2.7T sounds pretty weak and the 1.8T solid

Default Yeap....

First contact the owner of the dealership and tell him what's going on. Tell him how disapointed that you are that your BRAND NEW CAR is in the shop, etc.

Then contact AoA and give them the same. Except, tell them you want to speak with your OTS. Don't let them say they can't do that....THEY CAN!

Talk with your shop manager too. if everyone is invloved, you get things rolling much faster.

Above all, be nice....be polite and be understanding. It goes a lot further than being a ***** and pissing people off. Not that you are or would be....just saying! ;p

Things went my way with my buy back because I did everything I just wrote about.

On the flip side....the dealer does get the chance to try and fix your car, they will tell you that. It just depends on what you are willing or not willing to do.

Maybe the dealer will be the good guy and simply give you another car? Dunno....

Maybe it's in absolute numbers and not percentage-wise
