Tensioner Rattle Question
I'm hoping one of you can help out on this,
My S4 has developed a rattle that seems to be coming from the front of the engine. This only happens when the car is warmed up and then only when in drive (it is a tip, forgive me!!)
The minute I give it some gas, it stops
It sounds like the TB tensioner is not doing its job at low oil pressure? or the revs drop just low enough in drive vs park ?
Looking at the acc belt and tensioner while the engine is running shows no odd vibrations.
The car runs 0w30 Mobil 1 and the TB was changed approx 7k miles ago, it now has 113K
TIA

think its about $80, you dont have to remove the radiatior to get to
hardest part is removing the tension and routing the belt back on. It took me about 1 hr to do the job myself. you need to have a selection of tools handy as you have to work in a very tight spot.
Forgot i did a small writup when i did it, had to do a search.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2800021.phtml</a

yeah, that's the most likely culprit. Need to put rad support in service position
figure $75 in parts, at least 2-3 hrs of labor if you're paying someone to do it. Its a pretty easy DIY, though.
