Default TEST FOR ALL S4 OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car is ****ed I think but the dealer is telling me this is normal....even on one of the new ones on the lot. And I only have 1200 miles on the damn thing.

Test: Cruise along about 10 -15 mph in 2nd then put it in 3rd and stop on the gas. My car is making a loud "clangy" noise between 2k & 3K rpms (~2500). They tell me the turbo is "spooling". Turbo's don't spool with a metal clanging but with a "whisper". MUCH HELP AND INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I don't mean to be mean, but why would you floor it in 3rd from 10-15 mph?

Default The only reason why is cuz the sound really comes out and reproduced time again.

But this sound occurs in normal driving condtions....just to produce it over and over. Thats all.

Default That is your driveline trying to come apart from doing something you are not supposed to do.

If you have the same problem in first gear then you have a legitimate complaint.

Default Here's what you do, I had the same problem.....

I could reproduce the noise while the car was parked and off. All I had to do was take a rag, so I do not burn myself, and hit the cat with the palm of my hne. It will send a vibration up the downpipe and you will hear the noise. It is a heat shield that surrounds it at the top. It is so hard to get to, and the noise will gradually get worse. Mine would only make the noise while driving at 2200-2500 rpm, now it makes it if I just turn the AC on. They will probably check to see if it is tight enough, mine was, but the only way they seem to think they can fix it, is to replace it, and I have to make an appointment soon.

Default Same exact problem in 00 A4. (more)

I have the exact same problem. My dealer told me it was the same thing even though I know it isn't. It almost sounds like not enough gas is getting into the cyliders for a slpit second and as Ricky Martin says, she bangs. I wrote a letter to AoA two months ago and haven't heard back.
