i agree, but i'm itching for a sports car in my budget, thats DIFFERENT from the cars you see daily
for ex. i love 'vetts and boxters, BUT they're a dime a dozen.

You need a 1997+ to get the 6-speed and better engine, but then you are still stuck with a car that
looks just like the 1991 model. I hear they are selling brand new NSXs for $15k - $20k off of sticker to get rid of them (who wants to pay $90k for a new one when it looks just like a 1991?).
To be honest, Viper GTS are now becoming available in the mid $40k range, and they should be dropping even further as the trade-ins of the guys buying the new models hit the market (you have to already own a Viper in order to buy the new one). It would not have the class of an NSX (might not even want it for a daily driver), but as far as mass produced, easily available cars, the only thing faster would be a TT Porsche. And if you want to mod, the Viper aftermarket is HUGE. How about a supercharger kit that only runs 6-8 psi and makes 750 hp - WITHOUT INTERCOOLING!

I just bought an Isuzu Axiom for my girlfriend and it is auto. I have driven it to work a couple of
times (saved my butt yesterday when I went to get in my S4 to go to work and it had a flat) and all I can say is I really dislike driving an automatic. Even in traffic on my commute I feel so disconnected from the car without working the clutch and gears. I realized that rather than "driving" to work, which is fun (driving the S4 is always fun), I was merely "commuting." So stick only in a Viper does not bother me. They are weird though in that the pedals are shifted to the left. The interiors are pretty nice, but I do not know if they are rattly or quiet.

NSXs are nice... but...
...I wouldn't be interested in one prior to model year 1997. Even the newer ones are a bit dated, and I don't really think they qualify as an upper echelon sports car anymore.
Also, for all the beautiful lines of that car, it's a bit much, when you get into it, and realize that the interior is plain ol' Honda.
