I run a Euro front plate now but when I ran a standard issue front I had everything paited silver...

I'm from NY also, you don't NEED to have a front plate. IMO, lack of a front plate isn't something
you're going to get pulled over for. HOWEVER, if you're doing something else to get you pulled over (i.e., racing, speeding, running lights, etc...) it's something that is probably going to get you another ticket. As long as you exercise some care with your driving you shouldn't have a problem.
The other option is to get a second front piece and drill the holes and mount the plate to that. Keep it in the car and if you are really worried about it, swap the piece.
