Default For those of you who previously owned an a4, was the upgrade worth it? (more)

I bought an '01 A4 3 months ago, have done the chip/exhaust but want more power. I don't want to go the stage 3 route. Should I sit tight, or should I (1) buy a used s4, (2) buy a 3.0 2002 a4, or (3) be happy that I have a new audi and wait for the "new" s4?

Any comments much appreciated.

Well my 1998.5 A4 was totalled...and I was considering getting another A4 had I not gotten nearly 6K from the insurance company on the leased car...no kidding. So I put that cash towards the S4...and man I love the car. Stock it is 250HP as you know..but is as moddable as the A4. It is really up to you...it is not a cheap car as you know...if you can swing the extra insurance and payments...I say what the hell. Also there are some sweet used S4's out there for sale now...From Innovators (S4 AW Member) to Mike Hoppens StageIII S4....

Default Well worth it..

and there are many deals out there on nice used S4s. Can you wait until the next S4? Most can't!

100% worth it. A large portion of us had A4's previously.

Default I'm waiting...

I've only had my car a year, so it's too soon to be looking to get rid of it, I'll get bent over. In the time being...the last (cross my fingers) of my mods is being installed tomorrow, and the rest goes into the bigger engine fund (most likely the next gen S4)...welllll, I might want to upgrade the brakes, but that's it, I swear!
=)

Default NOT me...My last two cars were 1991 Mazda Proteges

one was "retired" at 150k after hitting two gaurdrails...and the other I sold after putting 70k on it and buying my S4.

Default it was an A4 that introduced me to the S4...

my wife bought an A4 2.8 tip and though i really like it it was waaaaay too slow so I looked into and got an S4 tip then S4 6-speed a year later.

Default I was going to buy an A4, but then I heard about S4 and bought that instead.

As for you situation: option 3.
I would be happy with what I have and wait for the "new" S4.

Default Worth it? Oh yea!!

Traded a '99 A4 2.8QMS in for the S4. I wasn't sure if it would be worth the money at first either - no doubts now. Two different cars. The 2.8's pretty dead until you hit the top end. The S4's a torque monster all the way through. On the down-side it's about as adictive as crack!!
