Default Thoughts on using a local tuner for chipping???

Looking for opinions/advantages that people have witnessed/experienced regarding the following boggle:

I think I have decided to go APR (hah! no pun intended). There is a local tuner in my area that really seems to know their stuff. They are an APR dealer and work on Porsche/Audi/VW exclusively. I also have the distinct privleledge of knowing "Whoosh_Addict" who has a VAG Tool. So my question is, why should I go through the local tuner shop if I have the ability to swap the ECU out myself? Is there any advantage? What have people experienced?

Thanks.

Default Haha. Seriously, does the using the local guy have any advantages over getting it from APR direct?

Bottom line, I can call APR, get an H box with the stock program, the 93 octane program and the race gas program and do it myself. What advantage is there to having a local APR dealer do all the work? Any?

Default Not really, unless you have a problem and then can take it to them...

Is the tuner soldering in the chip or do they get the chipped ECU from APR?

Default I see that... it was just my quick to reply thought and of course I recognize your screen name.

Like I said, when it comes to chip opinions, you've come to the right place (not that you haven't been here before) ;-)

Default If the local guy has it in stock, you can get it TODAY!

And, what the hell, you can better your relationship with the tuner while you are at it.
