Time for a new clutch...tips for DIY on an 01 A6 2.7T?
I posted this on the A6 side the other day withou much response, so I thought I'd ask the hands-on crew.
Under boost in 6th gear yesterday I felt the first telltale signs of slippage. Having chipped about 8 months ago, and w/ 75k miles on the original clutch, I expected this sooner than later. Now it's time.
I did my 87 Jetta's years ago. With good instructions, and a buddy, it was pretty easy. Just needed some time, sweat, & patience. Obviously, the 2 are completely different animals, but what's "special" about an 01 A6 2.7t that would make it really difficult, technically? Bentley's instructions seem pretty thorough. The thing that stood out was moving/removing the DPs. Am I missing something else major?
(Stoney doesn't have anything on the topic and STFA didn't reveal anything too specific.)
Thanks, all.

you should just have to loosen the dp clamps and move the dp's out of the way when you drop the tran
problem is, the tranny is heavy. i hope you have the right tools and equipment to do it.
also take note from where the bolts come out of on the front of the tranny. each bolt is a different size.

I was just planning to use the tire jack to lower and a milk crate to hold it.
;-) sorry, feeling lippy on a Sunday.
That bolt comment is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Thanks for the input!
