Default Tire advice and chip info.

Since I have to replace my rubber, I was wondering what other tires people are using instead of the stock RE040s that run anywhere from $200 to $300. What about Pirelli P7000s or the Kuhmo ECSTA? Half the price, but how do they perform?

Also, how much hp increase from the chip?

thanks

In general, people are staying away from both of those tires, well, maybe not so much the Kumhos...

Lots of mentions in the past of the P7000's getting noisy with age/miles.

Default i wouldn't recommend the p7000ss (super sucks). i've been using them for the past 15,000miles

and honestly they are really bad. they're noisy-they sound like a freight train when you're going 65-70mph. traction is horrible in both dry and snow. you cannot maneuver curves very well. they just seem to give. i'm running on my snows (pilot alpins) which perform MUCH better than p7000's.

hp...probably around 70 hp...and more importantly...monstrous torque.

Default I've had both tires, the Kumhos are better.

They are quieter and handle better.

Default If you're willing to spend that much, go with the Bridgestone S03 or SO2 Pole Positions. Much, much

better that the RE040s. Check out tirerack.com and look at the 'Reviews' sections for these tires.
