Last time I went to the trace I had stock wheels on and IIRC the instructor told me to runn 45ish up front and 40 in the rear.

It really varies on the track and temp. You should be at about 45 psi hot. I ususally....

When I ran with S03's at the track, I would start at about 34 cold and go out for a session. Come back in and check the pressures hot. Anything over 50 psi is bad. 45-50 was my sweet spot for S03's. The cold pressures will be different from tire to tire, but the hot temps should be close to equal all around.

I also use the "sidewall roll-over" to fine tune.

yep a cool day @ Road ATL I had to be about 36 all around to get them near 50 hot. (S03s)

You guys are running 45-50psi hot?!

Holy crap that's alot of pressure! Waaayyyy too much.

You want to see around 39 to 40 psi hot. If it's a hot day, start the tires off at around 27 psi in the front, 30 psi in the rear.

Ok, I just came back from track. WHAT A GREAT DAY, tried different tire pressures, details inside...

Tires: Bridgestone RE070 (STi stock tires)
Size/Wheels: 225/45/17

Alright, didn't get my answer here, but searched a bit... so decided to set rears a bit higher than front (cold) to get less grip in rear. In the morning before I left, I set rears to 38 and front to 36.

Day stared rainy/cool and slowly got dry/hotter and last session was all dry.

First complete wet session, front was bumped to 40psi, rear 39... so I kept it at the same pressure (it was a slow session), then 2nd session it was drier, a lot more speed... rear was bumped to 40, and front to 42 psi!

I felt I needed a bit more front grip, so I reduced the front by 2 psi to 40 (hot)... next session it felt great, and it came at 40/40 and I left it alone at that and last session which was the fastest and hardest that I drove bumped the rear to 41, and front to 42-42.5.

I don't think more pressure would have been good at all and I probably could have got away with less... these tires have very stiffl sidewalls and I don't think need to put that much pressure.

Here are some pics of the tires close up after all 4 sessions!

For track tires, I agree with that.

UberVier 07-24-2007 05:59 PM

at 28 they were piles of mush, I started out at 40, it was a cool day, etc...

wait why am I even replying to this?
