Default Too many changes at the local dealer! :-(

While my warrenty is still honored, chipped or not (per service manager), the service rep I worked with (for 10 years) is gone, and I don't know the new ones at all. So, I will not be able to get my O2 sensor covered under warrenty unless I let them diagnose it and replace it.

Since it takes an "unusual" sequence of warm-up, cool-down and running at 55 mph for a total period of 45 minutes before it starts acting up, I would expect a series of "no trouble found" visits, followed by extended driving of MY car by the service guys, before they finally settle on the sensor.

Too much hassle and chance for accidential or deliberate abuse and damage, to risk over a $166 part. At least I still get jobber pricing on parts, retail on that is $210 or so.

Default I was doing a study-guide for the Prius last year...

that's the Toyota hybrid gas/electric car...well the whole time I was working on it I was picturing the service bay at my local Toyota dealer full of mechanics standing around it scratching their heads...would hate to have a problem with one of THOSE cars.

Warranties are insurance and AoA is the insurance provider and they're the worst HMO I know of. Your dealer lives under the constant fear that they won't be reimbursed by AoA and many have taken to nickle-and-diming their customers or simply refusing to do warranty work outright (Rusnak).

Makes that Ferrari thing seem practical again because i KNOW there are GOOD Ferrari mechanics who could take the car to pieces and put it back better than it was originally.
