Torque Converter on Tip '00 S4
How much torque/HP can stock torque converters handle in the 2000 S4? Also, is there a upgrade out there for my car (not included in stage kits)?

Some Answers...
1) The stock tiptronic is rated at about 319 lbs. of torque, by ZF. Horsepower isn't a concern, but torque is.
2) Most "chip" upgrades produce more torque than this. A couple of tuners do have detuned chips for tiptronics. I believe both MTM and OC.T do.
(Edit: AMS and Abt apparently have detuned chips as well.)
3) Plenty of people run chips that are not "detuned" without problems. My '01 Tip has more than 20,000 APR Stage II miles on it, with no problems. Some folks have even gone to Stage II+ on the stock box.
4) You can get a GIAC "Tip Chip" in addition to any engine chip. While it doesn't technically increase torque ratings, it does increase shift speed, and is "easier" on the tranmission.
5) If you want to go all out, you can send your Transmission to Level10 in New Jersey. They will upgrade the internals such that it will take 700-800 lbs. of torque. It's pricey though. (I bought a used 'Tip box for $2600 and sent it to Level10 to have this work performed. When I get it back, I will be swapping out my stock 'Tip, doing a Stage III upgrade, and selling the stock gearbox to someone who is similarly inclined and equally stupid.)
Good luck!

Will do...
The spare just shipped to Level10 today, so it'll be a couple of weeks before it gets back here, and at least another couple of weeks before it gets swapped into my car. (I'm doing Stage III at the same time, and I don't know how long the software will take to be ported from 6 speed code, though is is supposedly not a difficult thing to do.)

Re: so how much did they quote you for the upgrade itself?
it was around 3800 for the trnany and ~300-400 for the tq and a few hundred for shipping total should be around ~4500-4800.
I think sky dive said ~4600
