Tranny almost refuses to downshift to 2nd w/o double clutching. Upshifts are fine.
I have a Tanoga SS (old style), which has always seemed to be properly aligned.
My car will upshift fine in to 2nd. Sometimes it'll be notchy, and it always takes longer than other gears, but it'll always go in the gate without too much fuss.
Downshifting to 2nd, on the other hand, is a complete PITA. Say I'm coming down from 3rd gear, which was at 2k, planning on rev-matching. When I try to move the shifter in to the 2nd gear gate, it just won't go with a normal amount of effort, no matter how long I hold it. I either have to force it, which I do only for experimental purposes now, in which case it bounces once or twice and then goes in - no audible grinding.
To avoid fuss I'll usually just double clutch, which seems to work.
Synchros? If I couldn't get in to 2nd gear at all I'd probably look this direction. At a stop, I can get the shifter in to all gates np.
Another symptom that has developed in the past 2 months, but happens rarely (pretty sure it's when the car is very cold), is that the shifter sticks a tiny bit in first gear. In other words, I have to pull a little harder to get the car out of first. Aside from that, first gear is great.

A couple things...
First thing I would do is readjust your shifter. neutral should be slightly canted towards the passengers side. It can come out of adjustment. All your symptoms point to this as most-likely being your problem.
If that doesn't work: mt90/switch.

Check your shifter alignment. I found that on hard downshifts, I sometimes
get caught in the entrance to the reverse gate instead of smoothly running from 3rd to 2nd. I have to take it easy on that shift so as not to jam it too hard to the left instead of back. Once I started being more gentle with it, I can usually slide it right into 2nd with a rev-match blip.
Basically, just take it easy with that shift and check the alignment.
