About a month ago I had my tires rotated and balanced. I did not notice any problems initially, but now at highway speed I hear a droning truck-tire sound most noticeably from the left rear wheel. The sound diminishes during sweeping left turns when getting on/off the highway. I have checked the archives here and may have an unbalanced wheel(not sure if it was done correctly). I will take the car back to the shop as soon as possible. Any thoughts / input from the forum with respect to what might be going on would be much appreciated.

The sound changing in long corners is the give-away.

Dan's advice is sound, 90% chance of wheel bearing, 10% bad tire.

2nd, I just had a front right bearing replaced, I swore it was tires but I was wrong.

After a test drive the local shop agreed. The part is being ordered tomorrow for installation on Tuesday. Apparently it's not a joint that can be repacked, so I have no choice but to buy the whole assembly. I'll let you know how things work out.
