Turbo Question
Was looking at getting an S4 sometime in the near future, but my only problem is the fact that the S4 is a Twin Turbo, and Turbo's are extremely expensive to fix. So my question is, has anyone had a Turbo blow out on them, and if so at what mileage.
Thanks, Derek

Before the less tolerant speak up, let me encourage you to use the search feature...

Yes, S4s have a notable rate of turbo failure. There are lots of ways to prolong their life. Many of us own these cars fully aware of this weakness, and love our cars anyway, and have found it a great excuse to throw in better turbos! But don't expect the B5 S4 to be cheap and reliable. If you want reliability, buy a Camry. If you want a great performance sedan, study the archives, post more questions, and welcome to AW!

Re: Turbo Question
1st its not twin turbo its BI turbo big difference, yes the stock turbos will evenutally fail if you use a chip. Hell I had them fail when my car was stock. You are going to need K04's so expect to pay about maybe 4-6K with parts and labor.

yeah but those are not technically "twins" either......
maybe paternal twins but not identical i.e. rx7, supra. Things like that labeled as twin turbo cars with one smaller than the other.
