is it unsafe to switch modes when..........
can i safely switch modes when i am driving or should i listen to apr and come to a stop..... and why is it bad to drive and switch modes?

I switch on the higway all the time...
You don't need to to stop. Just do it carefully and don't take your eyes off the road for too long.
Mechanically, there is no problem. I wouldn't try it at WOT though... always coasting/very light throttle when I switch.
