UUC Install Help
I just installed my SS kit, and it was quite an ordeal. (If you have not done this yet, please get all the tools that are recommended.) Anyway, after I put everything together I found a little piece that I have not seen previously. It was a gray metal looking piece that looks just like the teflon bushing that shipps with the SS kit. I do not feel like taking the thing apart. Does Stratmosphere ship extra bushing? Does one come with the stock shifter?
Second question: I CAN engage all gears, and the shifter is straight when in neutral. How do I know that it is installed properly though? Can I hurt my transmission if it is not installed properly but ist seems to work?

Hey, Tomasz.
It's me, Andrew. The guy you were parked next to at VIR.
I can't answer your first question because I don't remember seeing a gray bushing. If it's rectangular and slightly curved, it could be the washer-like piece that connects the ss link to the rest of the shifter...kinda hard to explain. I'd take it apart again put it in.
Make sure there's some sideways play when it's in each gear...especially 1st and reverse. If not, then you could shave down the screw on the ss for the push-down reverse lockout. If you don't want to go through that hassle, just make the shifter lean more to the passenger side.

If you took your stock shifter apart, there is a gray metal piece (more)
that looks like a piece of pipe about half an inch long that serves as a bushing for the bolt.
If your gears engage smoothly your install is fine.

Re: Hey, Tomasz.
Hey, good to know that you are around. Any other driving events for you? I am looking at NASA and SCCA. Quattro Club is just not enough.
I will check for play. Everything seems fine, except that Reverse is tough to get into, not too tough. May be very normal.

Re: Hey, Tomasz.
It shouldn't be tough to get into reverse. I would make sure that there is the same amount of play in reverse as there is in 5th.
I'm happy with the QC events including this year's Nationals and I'll do an event with other car club....maybe a one day driving class or two.
Nice to hear you are enjoying it. Hope your gf is enjoying it too.
