UUC VM2 exhaust installation issues

UUC VM2 exhaust installation issues
After some examination of the areas where customers are having installation issues, this is our preliminary conclusion:
The connection between the two front pipes and the muffler are not being put together fully; this area is double-sleeved to ensure a leak-free connection. The inner liner is actually a seperate piece that can be removed and examined. Apparently some installers are not used to this kind of connection and are not getting all the pieces together correctly. There are "exhaust lube" products designed for slip-fit connections that can be used to make this assembly easier.
When properly installed, the tips should not be sticking out too far (same as the VM1 for those of you that have traded up). If they are, that is a definite sign that the sections are not put together properly.
As far as the sound is concerned, the VM2 definitely does mellow out once it gets settled in (again, same as the VM1). Anybody who makes a decision that the sound level is too high or droning before 1000 miles has not experienced the VM2 properly.
Although this does not help those that already have the VM2, we will have (and post) and installation guide shortly.

Ah, those little sleeve inserts can move, eh?
I don't know why I didn't try tugging on them, since they were only sticking out of the pipes by about 5/8". I was worried all along this this might be a problem, but then figured the sleeve clamps would take care of this. If I had the chance to get my car up on a lift, I sure would like to readjust everything, but it hangs ok now, after all the rigging I did.
Speaking of rigging, Rob, the very last hanger (the one on the straight tips, nearest the center of the car) was way off. Not even close to being able to use the factory rubber hanger thingy. I ended up drilling a hole through the metal part of the factory hanger, and using a clamp to cinch your hanger up real close. I'll have to call you and tell you more about it.
Overall, installation was a bit of a pain (took many grunts), but I'm mostly pleased with the final result. It's a little loud now, but I'm already getting used to it. So, if it calms down, that's great! It sounds awesome, and I've gotten many compliments. Performance gains are noticeable.
Corey S
