V1 install question
I'm planning on hardwiring the V1 this weekend. I was going to go with Mark P's instructions and attach a ring terminal to the X75 (switched) post. However, the tech article just says to run it off the fuse panel, which makes it about a 5 minute task. Are there any disadvantages to running it off the fuse panel?
Also, if I go with the X75, does anyone know what size that post is? I'd like to be able to pick up the ring terminal before opening it up... On a related note... where do people have their V1s located? I used to have mine below the mirror but I've moved it over to just to the right of the mirror up about as high as possible... it seems to work just mine there. Thanks! |
I did a fuse install and I've got it mounted in the same place you do
Are you going to join us for the auto show GTG today? If you are, I can show you how I've got mine set up.

I'm not sure. I'd really like to, but I've got a bunch of things that I need to get done and 1:30 is
approaching quickly. I've never even met any of you MNAudi guys...

sounds like the perfect opportunity! you wouldn't be the only noob there...

Fuse tap is fine. Just tap into a fuse that turns on/off with the car (e.g. rear windshield wiper,
which is vacant if you have a sedan).

I'll try... gotta go run some errands
1:30 at Carousel?

yup, otherwise 2pm at the Local

Fuse is fine. I've mounted mine *behind* the right side of the rearview mirror...
so that only the rear sensor is not blocked, and the entire display *is* blocked.
I then mounted the remote display on the steer column area (toy guy style). Benefit? I can't see the V1 unit at all. Completely blocked from my view by the rearview. Works great since its up so high, and doesn't interfere/distract me from the road. |
